Request: 

1) In respect of children subject to a Supervision Order, what is the minimum visit frequency at Thurrock?

(Example from a Local Authority, West Sussex)

2) In respect of social workers allocated to a child subject to a Supervision Order, what is the minimum frequency at which they should receive formal supervision by their Team Manager?

3) In respect of children subject to a Supervision Order, how regularly should unannounced visits be undertaken by the allocated social worker? Unannounced visits provide a balanced perspective of the quality of life for the child in the home.

4) Please provide your Children’s Services Management Standards (or similar in nature). I have attached an example from a Local Authority, York. 

5) In the last 12 months, how many times has the Local Authority applied to the Court to extend or further extend an S.31 Supervision Order?

Response: 

1) In respect of children subject to a Supervision Order, what is the minimum visit frequency at Thurrock?

Children subject to a Supervision Order are visited at a minimum frequency of every 4 weeks; or less if the child/young person’s needs determine otherwise.

2) In respect of social workers allocated to a child subject to a Supervision Order, what is the minimum frequency at which they should receive formal supervision by their Team Manager?

Supervision is recorded in respect of each child open to the supervisee, at a minimum of once every eight weeks

3) In respect of children subject to a Supervision Order, how regularly should unannounced visits be undertaken by the allocated social worker?

Unannounced visits provide a balanced perspective of the quality of life for the child in the home.

Unannounced visits will take place if it has been assessed as a required need and the frequency will vary dependent on each individual case.

4) Please provide your Children’s Services Management Standards (or similar in nature).

We do not have written Management Standards

5) In the last 12 months, how many times has the Local Authority applied to the Court to extend or further extend an S.31 Supervision Order?
