Traffic Regulation Order (TRO)

Temporary prohibition or restriction on roads

Dunlop Road, Tilbury

1) The Borough Council of Thurrock, in exercise of their powers under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and all other powers, has made an Order the effect of which is to:

  • prohibit any vehicle travelling along Dunlop Road in its entirety

2) The purpose of the Order is to enable Thurrock Council to carry out Micro Surfacing.

3) The alternative routes are as shown in Schedule One to this Order. Access will be maintained for residents by the use of Gatemen where required and alternative side roads where needed.

4) The Order will come into force on Monday 19 August 2024. Works are currently scheduled to take place on Monday 19 August 2024 between the hours of 8am and 5pm. Exact dates will be specified on https://one.network/?GB138736394

It only applies to those days and times when indicated on site by the presence of the appropriate traffic signs in accordance with The Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

5) It is expected that the works will be completed within the above times, however the Order will continue in force for a period not exceeding 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the sooner.

6) If the works are not completed within 18 months, the Order may be extended for a longer period with the approval of the Secretary of State.

Schedule One

Phase Section of Dunlop Road closed Diversion route
Phase One From south of Gaylor Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south direction. Northbound diversion is Fairfax Road, Sexton Road, and Leicester Road and vice versa. Access maintained to Gaylor Road via Gateman. Alternative access to Russell Road via Dock Road.
Phase Two From a point approximately 10m north off its junction with Fairfax Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south direction. Northbound diversion is Church Road, Russell Road, Dunlop Road and vice versa for southbound vehicles. Access to Leicester Road, Sexton Road and Fairfax Road will be via Church Road and Russell Road.
Phase Three From a point approximately 20m north of its junction with Adelaide Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south direction. Northbound diversion is Calcutta Road westbound, Dock Road northwest bound, Russell Road and vice versa for southbound vehicles. Access will be maintained to Adelaide Road via Gateman. Alternative access to Church Road will be via Russell Road.
Phase Four From a point approximately 25m south of its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a south direction. Northbound diversion will be Calcutta Road westbound, Dock Road northwest bound, Russell Road, Church Road and vice versa for southbound vehicles.
Phase Five From a point approximately 60m north of its junction with Alexandra Road to its junction with Calcutta Road. Northbound diversion will be Calcutta Road westbound, Dock Road northwest bound, Russell Road, Church Road and vice versa for southbound vehicles.
