Fees to recover a stray dog

If you lose your dog and it is seized by us as a stray, you will have to pay our administration fee, the costs of collection, kennelling fees and any veterinary fees that we have incurred to get your dog back.

Pick-up and release fees

By law, we charge owners a fee of £25 for any dog picked up and released to them.

In addition, we charge a call-out fee that depends on the date and time that the stray dog was originally collected by the kennels' staff.

Collection day Collection time Cost
Weekdays 8am to 5pm £52
Weekdays 5pm to 10pm £72
Weekends and bank holidays 8am to 10pm £72

Stray dogs will not be collected by kennels' staff between 10pm and 8am on any day.

Kennelling fee

There is a kennelling fee of £25 for each full or part day, starting from when the dog is seized.

Veterinary fee

Vets fees may be incurred to keep your dog in good health while in kennels.

Arranging for your dog to be returned

Our contractor for stray dog collection is KyNite Kennels.

Dogs will be returned to owners at a pre-arranged time and place between 9am and 5pm – this is open to reasonable negotiation with kennel staff and owner.

Dogs can be collected direct from the kennels by appointment only, following discussion between kennel staff and dog owner.
