Numbers of apprentices in our workforce

The government has set targets for the numbers of apprentices employed by local councils in England. You can find information on these targets at GOV.UK: public sector apprenticeship target.

In our employment figures below, 'new apprentices' is a combined total of new employees hired as apprentices and people who were already employees but have started an apprenticeship.
