Register a small society lottery

Applications should be sent to our Licensing team.

Eligibility

We will refuse the application if, during 5 years up to the date of application, either:

  • a previous operating licence held by the society has been revoked under Section 19(1) of the Gambling Act 2005
  • an application for an operating licence made by the society has been refused

We may also refuse your application if we believe that either:

  • the society is not a non-commercial society,
  • a person who will be, or may be, connected with the promotion of the lottery has been convicted of a relevant offence
  • information provided in, or with, the application is false or misleading

Fees

The following fees apply:

  • £40 initial registration, including first year's fee
  • £20 annual fee to keep the registration active after the first year

If you don't pay the annual fee, we may cancel your registration and a new application will have to be made.

Apply for registration or renew your registration

Use the online form below for your registration. After submitting your application, you'll be asked to pay the fee online using a debit card or credit card. Your card will be checked when you pay.

At the 'Authenticating payer details' page, it's important you allow time for bank checks to take place in background – please do not refresh the page, and do not use the 'submit' button on that page unless you've waited longer than 15 seconds.
